Dan wake


 Dan wake (also spelled dan wanke or dan wakeke) is a popular Nigerian dish, especially in the northern regions! It's a thick, creamy soup made from a mixture of beans, peppers, onions, garlic, ginger, and spices. The beans used are typically cowpeas or black-eyed peas.


Here's a simple recipe for dan wake:


Ingredients:


- 1 cup of cowpeas or black-eyed peas

- 2 cups of water

- 1 onion, chopped

- 2 cloves of garlic, minced

- 1 inch of ginger, grated

- 1 Scotch bonnet pepper, chopped

- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin

- 1 teaspoon of ground coriander

- Salt and pepper to taste

- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil


Instructions:


1. Soak the beans in water for about 5 hours or overnight.

2. Blend the beans with the onion, garlic, ginger, and Scotch bonnet pepper.

3. Heat the oil in a pot and add the blended mixture.

4. Add the cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper.

5. Stir well and cook for about 20-25 minutes or until the soup thickens.

6. Serve hot with a side of fufu, rice, or bread.


Dan wake is a nutritious and flavorful dish that's rich in protein, fiber, and vitamins. It's often served as a main course or side dish in Nigerian cuisine.
